Aerosonde® UAS and RS2-H1 vehicles establish multi-domain capability in a GPS-less environment
HUNT VALLEY, MD / March 25, 2022 – Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, today announced its participation in the 2022 U.S. Army Futures Command Cyber Quest at Ft. Gordon, GA from March 14-18, where systems The company’s unmanned aerial and ground vehicles have demonstrated cross-domain interoperability. During the event, Textron Systems’ Aerosonde® Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) demonstrated its ability to detect electronic targets using payloads and on-board cameras, then transmit signals to our RS2-H1 robotic ground vehicle without using GPS. This interoperability further supports emerging military technology requirements for modular multi-domain operations.

Cross-collaboration between both airborne and ground-based unmanned platforms improves the efficiency of their payloads by using connective technology to improve speed and information response. This interconnected platform approach also helps to reduce the cognitive workload of supported personnel, allowing individuals to focus on critical operations while allowing platforms to collectively guide and implement missions.
During the event, the Aerosonde platform was outfitted with two advanced electronic warfare payloads providing critical battlespace intelligence and active effects to support Cyber Event objectives. An enabling feature of the Aerosonde UAS is its open payload interface and modular mission compute architecture that facilitate rapid integration of technology and data interfaces and enhanced situational awareness. As with the Aerosonde Mk 4.8 HQ aircraft competing for the U.S. Army’s Future Tactical UAS (FTUAS) registration program, the system can quickly and reliably deploy intelligence from multiple sensors.
