Expansion of Fushiguro Megumi’s domain in Jujutsu Kaisen so far

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 170 introduced Fushiguro Megumi using his domain extension, Chimera Shadow Garden, for the third time in the manga, and fans are thrilled. However, since Shueisha is on a publishing break again this week, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 171 included, there’s still plenty of time before there’s any clarification of what the Fushiguro Domain can do and how it makes it work.

Considering that Akutami has already given plenty of foreshadowing and information about domain extensions in his manga, fans took it upon themselves to decipher Megumi’s domain ahead of the release of Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 171.

Everything Revealed About Megumi’s Domain in Jujutsu Kaisen So Far

Jujutsu Kaisen is an information-packed series, with Akutami often packing volumes of information into a single chapter. Domain expansion is undoubtedly a simpler concept than Gojo’s Negative Infinity or the entire Culling Game. However, at the same time it is more layered and complex as it has many nuances.

Megumi Estate was one of the peaks of Jujutsu Kaisen since its introduction, on par with Yuuji’s Black Flash. In Jujutsu KaisenDomain Expansion seems to be an easier technique for Curses than Wizards, given that even Special Level Curses can form a Domain, not to mention Simple Domains which are easier to cast.

Gojo and Megumi are the only two Jujutsu (human) wizards we’ve seen using the “Sure Hit Technique” domain extensions (so far). https://t.co/0DfhzCEqiv

Conversely, Megumi is one of only three wizards in Jujutsu Kaisen known to have a domain extension. The other two are Gojo Satoru and Higuruma Hiromi, and the only one besides Gojo with a safe domain, one formed with the intent to kill.

Megumi is also the youngest wizard in the series to have his own domain, as Gojo had created his domain after the Hidden Inventory arc (aka Gojo’s Past arc), during which he was a sophomore. year.

History of Megumi Domain

Megumi first manifested her domain in Jujutsu Kaisen during his fight against the special quality Finger Bearer in the Origin of Obedience arc (aka the Death Painting arc). While the domain was incomplete and largely ineffective, given that it was ultimately the Dark God Dog who prevailed against the curse and retrieved Sukuna’s finger, it was the start of Megumi’s journey towards realizing the potential that Gojo and Sukuna saw in him.

Next we’ll see Megumi using her domain to break through Dagon’s domain during the Shibuya Incident arc to help Maki, Nanami, and Naobito Zen’in. Megumi uses her still incomplete domain to counter the deadly attack from Dagon’s domain.

He originally planned to use Chimera Shadow Garden as an escape route, but Toji Fushiguro entered through the opening instead, and Megumi was forced to clear her domain. At that time, he was no longer able to manifest his domain again.

In the closed realm of Megumi, I believe the manifestation behind is a visual representation of her brain stem and initial cervical vertebra; the branches representing the nerves. Because of how close his technology is to his mind. Like Mahito & touch.#JJK170 #ShadzJK #jujutsukaisen170 https://t.co/G9u0rfgTTr

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 170 marks the third manifestation of the Megumi Domain. He had difficulty forming a barrier to contain his domain, and as such, he used an existing space as a barrier.

The third manifestation of Chimera Shadow Garden is different from the previous ones, as it is more complete and denser. There’s apparently the beginning of a spine hanging behind Megumi, with nerves flowing from it that connect her domain to the physical space it occupies.

Interestingly, the domain extension is called Chimera Garden Shadow in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 170. Unclear if it makes sense or just a mistranslation.

Megumi’s Domain Mechanics

Chimera Shadow Garden is essentially a physical manifestation of Megumi’s Ten Shadow Technique. It is a fluid shadow floor that houses all of Megumi’s Shikigami and allows her advanced shadow manipulation.

Megumi was originally able to hide in her opponent’s shadow and trade doubles when badly injured in her domain.

Foreshadowing

What we see Megumi attempt in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 170 has been announced three times in the manga. The incomplete estate of the first Finger Bearer, whom the students encountered at the detention center, had a similar approach. It also used an existing structure as a barrier but was a trained domain, not a domain expansion technique.

Definitely a spine right there, but the knots at the bottom almost remind me of the “treasure bag” pattern Dagon used to expand his domain in Shibuya. If so, it could be related to Megumi’s namesake as a “blessing”, since the miyamairi noted below is >> https://t.co/xtZ4pWoJ35

The second foreshadowing was the Domain of Dagon, Horizon of the Captivating Skandha. It is a calm domain, which he can use as a backdrop in an apartment, using his walls as a barrier.

But Dagon can also extend it with a barrier, like he did during his fight against Nanami.

Interestingly, Dagon launches his domain by drawing a symbol on his belly instead of waving his hand. The symbol is similar to the design that appears on the lower part of the spine in Megumi’s domain in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 170.

The most crucial foreshadowing took place during the Shibuya Incident arc when it was revealed that Ryomen Sukuna’s domain, Malevolent Shrine, is a barrier-free domain.

Sukuna sacrifices the protection of a barrier to improve the effectiveness of his Sure-Hit technique. Many fans have speculated that Sukuna might be a perfect catalyst to tell Megumi more about the Barrier-Free Domains, since the King of Curses has taken an interest in Megumi’s development.

Speculations

megumi keeps calling his domain incomplete because of the lack of a barrier, but he’s literally already doing this “divine technique” 🙇🏻‍♀️ to even be able to expand his domain without a barrier, that’s crazy in the first place . he just needs sukuna to tell him to perfect this skill 👀 https://t.co/p5zR3oY6Ru

Many fans pointed out that since a barrier-free domain extension was called a divine technique, Megumi’s domain lacks nothing. He is, in fact, superior.

However, readers should keep in mind that:

  1. Megumi is unable to use a barrier. He didn’t choose to exchange it for an upgrade like Sukuna. In order to advance, Megumi would first need to acquire a Barrier Technique, which he could then trade for an upgrade in a Binding Vow.
  2. Megumi’s domain is not an open domain per se, but rather one contained by a physical space instead of a barrier. Until and unless Megumi can cast a fully formed Domain Extension that doesn’t require a container at all, her technique cannot be said to be similar to Sukuna’s.

Final Thoughts

I love how Megumi is our primary point of contact for Domain Concepts. We get demonstrations of great domains by others + declarations of their exclusivity and dominance. But Megumi is our man in the trenches, backing up those claims firsthand. 🔥#JJK170 #ShadzJK #jujutsukaisen170 https://t.co/0f0COJuZS2

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 171 will detail the effectiveness of Megumi’s domain. Its description and technique have not yet been explained. It is unknown how much Megumi’s hitting technique has improved and how much her domain improves her Shikigami.

We have yet to see three of Megumi’s ten Shikigami in Jujutsu Kaisen, which could be present in its Domain. Many fans have wondered if Mahoraga would also be present in a fully formed Shadow Garden Chimera, though that seems unlikely given that Megumi has yet to subdue Mahoraga.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 171 will also show us how long Megumi can hold her domain in her current injured state.
